Access to the Internet has been provided to associates to assist them in performing their job duties. It allows associates to connect to resources around the world. Every associate has a responsibility to maintain The UPS Store public image and to exercise common sense and good judgment when using the Internet. All associates must comply with the following Internet use Guidelines.
All Internet access is for professional reasons, solely in a manner that assists an associate in performing his or her duties. Associates are responsible for using the Internet in an effective, ethical and lawful manner. Remember, other Internet users can trace associates accessing the Internet to The UPS Store.
Any use of the Internet outside the scope of an associate’s duties is prohibited. Solicitation of noncompany business, or any use of the Internet to pursue personal gain or advancement of individual views is strictly prohibited. Use of the Internet must not disrupt or adversely affect the operation of the business or the networks of other users. Accessing material on the Internet that may be construed as inappropriate or objectionable in a professional workplace is prohibited including, but not limited to, material that contains profanity, sexual references or images. Associates must not “post” or place any information about The UPS Store on the Internet without The UPS Store’s prior consent.
Each associate is responsible for the content of all Messages that they place or send over the Internet. No messages may be transmitted under an assumed name and associates may not attempt to obscure the origin of any message. Information published on the Internet may not violate or infringe upon the rights of others. Associates who wish to express personal opinions on the Internet should obtain their own user names and use other, non-company Internet access systems.
To prevent computer viruses from being transmitted through the computer system, associates may not download any software from the Internet, including screen savers or wallpaper.
Copyright materials, such as software, files, and graphics and documents belonging to entities other than The UPS Store may not be copied or transmitted on the Internet or through e-mail by associates. Associates may not copy, transfer, rename, add or delete information or programs belonging to other Internet users unless given express permission to do so by the owner. Failure to observe copyright or license agreements may result in disciplinary action from {The UPS Store or MBE} or legal action by the copyright owner
The UPS Store is not responsible for material viewed or downloaded by associates from the Internet. The Internet is a worldwide network of computers that contains millions of pages of information. Associates are cautioned that many of these pages include offensive, sexually explicit, and inappropriate material. Even innocuous search requests may lead to sites with highly offensive content. In addition, having an e-mail address on the Internet may lead to receipt of unsolicited e-mail containing offensive content. Associates accessing the Internet do so at their own risk.
