Employment may be terminated with or without cause and with or without notice at any time by the employer or you. Groups of people who work together require certain guidelines pertaining to their conduct and interpersonal relationships. Accordingly, it is important that all associates be aware of their responsibilities to our business and to their co-workers.
It is the Employer’s policy to treat all applicants and associates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, veterans’ status, or genetic information. This policy applies to all terms, conditions, and privileges of employment and all policies of the Employer, including recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, training, development, promotion, transfer, discipline, layoff, and termination.
All work related concerns should be brought to the attention of the Employer. The UPS Store and Print Shop workplace, values creating a positive and encouraging work environment and culture. Problems and issues will arise, however, instead of voicing your concerns, issues/problems with a lateral employee, the employee can address their leadership with this issue to seek resolve. This method leads to continual growth and improvement within the work environment and culture.
If you decide to leave the Employer, please provide a minimum of a FOUR WEEK notice in order to find a replacement. * Please note, this is due in part to the amount of time it takes to interview, hire, and train. At minimum this process takes four weeks (one month) and on average, it takes six months for a sales associate to feel fully confident in most areas of business.
Do not divulge or discuss the following with anyone:
Each shift (opening, mid day, closing) is assigned different cleaning tasks for each day. Initial on the large board in the back of the store after you complete your assignment for the day. The bathroom will be cleaned each day, but thoroughly cleaned once a week. We have a rotation next to the big board in the back for the bathroom cleaning.
Our rush season is Christmas. We will do almost twice as much volume in December as any other month of the year. We all have to come together to make Christmas run smoothly. The week between Christmas and New Year’s slows down a little, but is still very busy and we need most people here. If you are on staff with The UPS Store at the beginning of the Fall semester, you are committing to stay through Christmas. If you cannot commit to stay through Christmas, you cannot start with us during the Fall. We cannot have any “new” people on staff during the Christmas rush. Since this is the busiest time at the store, we ask that you do your best in self-care to prevent getting sick during this rush.
the request is for, and seniority.
It is recommended that you eat lunch either before or after your shift. Because we are a retail store with a very small staff running the store at any given time, you will not be able to take a traditional hour lunch break.
Associates are paid hourly, which means that, withstanding breaks, all time spent at the center should be spent on center-related activities. Associates will be expected to consult the project board or other tasks lists and work on store-related activities during “down time” or times with low customer traffic. Obviously, when a customer enters the store, he/she becomes the priority.
During shifts, Associates are not allowed to have their cell phones on their person. In the event that the Associate needs to make a call, this will need Managerial approval. * Please note that Managers may have their phones on their person and may use their phone for work related items.
Always check on the following and please take care of anything you see out of place, even if it’s not your “assigned” job!
The goal is to keep everything clean, constantly. It's hard, but doable and requires everyone maintaining a state of upkeep.
Employees and Owners of The UPS Store get specific discounts. There is a discount card at either all or one of the registers and should be followed appropriately.
Do not combine discounts in different profit centers. If an owner gets 60% off of a product in packaging and 20% off in shipping, the discounts need to be taken out line by line according to how it is rung up in POS. INCORRECT: 60%+20% =80% discount
Applying discounts takes time and is normally a line by line discount rather than a transactional discount, if multiple profit centers are being rung up.
